Category: External Functions Group: Next Release Status: Pending Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Mark Miesfeld (miesfeld) Assigned to: Mark Miesfeld (miesfeld) Summary: ooDialog may fail under certain versions of XP Initial Comment: Under certain circumstances on Windows XP, the Windows API call to initialize the common control library may fail. This casues ooDialog to abort and ooDialog will not run. When this problem happens, the user will see a message box put up by ooDialog. The text of the message box will be: "Initializing the Windows Common Controls library failed. ooDialog can not continue. Windows System Error Code: 0" The actual system error code may be 0, or some other number. The problem may happen with ooRexx 4.0.0 on Windows XP, or on Windows XP Service Pack 1. The fix is to apply Windows XP service pack 2, or service pack 3. It is not advisable to run Windows XP without the latest service packs applied in any circumstances. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Vladimir (duselguy) Date: 2009-10-10 05:29 Message: It is not a fix. The recommendation "It is not advisable to run Windows XP without the latest service packs applied in any circumstances." looks at least strange. My belief in the product/project was decreased twice. Regards, Vladimir ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mark Miesfeld (miesfeld) Date: 2009-09-28 22:36 Message: Committed revision 5218. Add a work around that will not abort ooDialog in these circumstances. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=684730&aid=2869039&group_id=119701 |
