OBI_1000207 has editor preferred term "bead", which is too general. The textual definition is much more specific:
A globular or round particle of defined physicochemical properties and size which can be exploited as either the primary substance for detection or as a secondary solid platform for the attachment of bioactive molecules.
Can we come up with a better label? Maybe "microbead"?
discussed on Dec 8 2014 call and agree that "bead" is too general. micro bead is better but also used for cosmetics. may need to include function like "solid support function".
propose "assay bead" in the same spirit as "assay array"
I like that, Chris!
