In the Apple developer documentation for the PB 1400 and PB 5300 they state clearly that the PBX memory controller IC cannot address more than 64 MB. I found its registers in the I/O memory space and there is indeed no way to address more memory. The only way to expand it would be PCMCIA SRAM cards but they are very expansive and only of very small size (6 MB seems to be the usual limit). One could also use Compact Flash cards in a PCMCIA adaptor as swap partitions but the PCMCIA bus is rather slow and the Compact Flash cards have limited write cycles. So one has to accept the limit of 64 MB RAM on the NuBus PowerBooks.
