Hi Florian, meanwhile I installed mklinux on my PB 1400. I bought a TEAC slimline IDE-CD-Writer which replaces the 12x CD-ROM drive perfectly - and mklinux recognizes it (I get timeouts when using cdrom, mouse and even keyboard during HD access). With mklinux I now have the possibility to compile the 2.4 nubus-pmac kernel. Unfortunately I have no possibilty to get the newest sources via BitKeeper. I tried the 2.4.27 kernel with nubus-patches from Debian woody. The kernel compiles but during bootup it stops at the same point where the ones downloadable from nubus-pmac.sourceforge.net stop - saying "MMU: exit" before entering the kernel. As with your sources this problem seems to be solved, I'd like to get them - perhaps via FTP or CD-ROM ?? I was able to get some debug information from your kernel. I connected an external ADB keyboard to the PowerBook and by pressing the ALT (option) and Druck (PrintScreen) keys (this is the MagicSysRq) you get some debugging options. It's described in the file sysrq.txt in the folder "Documentation" in the kernel tree. For example I could determine that the currently running task was INIT interestingly.
