Hello, I just subscriped to this list. Also I'm a newbie to linux. I hope you = help me here. Ok, I have a Redhat 7.1 System with kernel 2.4.2. I've choosen a server = class installation because the computer should be a router for my = homelan. Since the router is in my sleeping room I try to make it as = silent as possible. I downloaded noflushd_2.4.orig.tar.gz and compiled it as discribed in = INSTALL and README. I let it start in the default runlevel 3. First problem: while executing the startup script a error message says = that kupdate was not found and I should run bdflush. A short look at the = process listing (top) showed that there was a "kupdated" and no = "kupdate" "bdsflush" was also running. Ok, I thought a typo or a change = from Redhat and I changed all "kupdate" in the script to "kupdated". No = more error message appears. But I'm not sure if noflushd is now working, = I don't yet had the time to test it. My 2 questions: What do you think about the kupdate <> kupdate thing? Shouldn't kupdated be stopped when noflushd is running. At my system = nothing is stopped while it's running. Thanks for your replies. Florian Lindner =20 |
