Ok, that fixed the problem. Thanks! (And by the way, I do remember seeing some broken_pipe errors). It is disturbing to me that so little as a power outage could cause data loss. I had thought with the widespread adoption of ext3 we were beyond this. What needs to be done to make netatalk more fault tolerant? - Stew -----Original Message----- From: net...@li... Subject: RE: [Netatalk-admins] Worked briefly - but now chooser hangs when attempting to connect to Netatalk server Stewart, If you have run cnid_maint and it still hangs you must delete all the >.AppleDB files in the share root files. E.g if you shared /home/user, you would have to delete the .AppleDB under the /home/user folder. This is a little dangerous cause it might cause you to "loose" files. I have had a similar problem for almost a year now and the problem it seems is that when I have unforseen poweroutages it happens. Also look in you messages file. Do you see a lot of broken_pipe or something errors? Also once you have deleted these .AppleDB files you will find that the first users that connects to the system works fine, that is if you have a public type folder shared. When the second one connects you might find that they can log on, see the share but the share is empty. Do a chmod 666 * in your .AppleDB folders. Users must have read rights in order to see the resources shared on the system. Hope this helps. PS: Will you let me know if you had any poweroutages recently. No change - still hangs. - Stew -----Original Message----- From: Nigel Pegram [mailto:edi...@ch...] Sent: Monday, July 28, 2003 4:32 PM To: Stewart Loving-Gibbard Subject: Re: [Netatalk-admins] Worked briefly - but now chooser hangs when attempting to connect to Netatalk server I had something similar to this caused by corrupt resource data. Have you run cnid-maint? Nigel.
