This problem was posted to netatalk-admin with no response, so I thought I would try here. I had to rebuild a Debian system have not gotten Netatalk working again. Originally I could not get afpd running. Once Didier pointed out a problem with my nsswitch.conf I afpd start up and I thought everything was working. It turns out that I never have gotten afpd completely working again, users just started mounting the Samba share when then encounter problems. Finally some of my OS9 users are complaining about not being able to get at their files. What I am currently seeing is that I can connect and authenticate to the afpd server, but the client system Finder hangs at that point and never displays the list of shares on the server. If I stop and restart Netatalk services on the Debian host the client Finder will return with the list of shares, but of course with the afpd down connections fail if you select one of the services. I would really appreciate a pointer to tell me what I should be looking at. This is a Debian system on a Alpha with a 2.4.28 kernel. Netatalk is version 2.0.2. Thanks in advance, Bill P.S. I would love to be able to test this remotely. I test Samba remotely using smbclient. Is there any suggestion for something similar for netatalk testing? +--------------------------------------------------- | Bill MacAllister | 14219 Auburn Road | Grass Valley, CA 95949 | 530-272-8555 |
