Hi, I've discovered that I can easily and reliably upload files from a Mac client to atalk folder on a Linux server using the Finder, but that the reverse operation doesn't "work" for either binary or text files. The case that's easiest to explain/reproduce is to take something small, like the BinHex4.hqx file, which I downloaded fron the "net" onto the server. If I drag it down to the Mac with the Finder, I get various kinds of corruption: non-Ascii characters in the middle of the file or the file may be truncated. I can open the file using Tex-Edit and do a Save As and save the file to the Mac. This works, but isn't a general solution. Can someone why I'm seeing these results? I have a Mac 6100/66 and am running System 7.5.3. I can use Netscape to copy the files (ftp://.../binhex4.hqx), and I could use something like Fetch. Why can't I use the Finder? Thanks, Skip |
