switching off all beeps

on my laptop and possibly other hardware beeps are annoyingly loud and there's no switch or anything. Nedit beeps when search failed (nothing found) which happens rather often.
Would be thankful for a "beep never" button.

I don't think you'll need switches on your hardware. Normally, I use alsamixer or something to tune the volume. Anyway, there is a toggle 'beep on search wrap' under Preferences->Default Settings->Searching, so it shouldn't be too hard to patch the sources such that there are no beeps. (Just a reminder of the advantages of Free Software.)

ok here is my quick and dirty fix :
cd nedit-5.5-src/source
sed -i 's+XBell+//XBell+g' *.c
