File->Open doesn't take focus under Exceed

Hello,
with older versions of my exceed Xserver, whenever i
chose file->open from the nedit menu, a new Nedit
window would appear and have the input focus.
the was a desireable trait.
a recent XServer upgrade however, lost this effect.
Using hummingbird exceed XServer 9.0.0.12, when I click
File-Open from the nedit menu, i do get a new nedit
window, BUT the original window still has input focus,
not the new one.
Hummingbird claims this is an nedit setting/feature that
isnt properly setup/implemented... can anyone confirm
this?

Managing window focus is a window manager issue. I suspect
you're running the native WM (windows), so that it's really
Exceed's job. We might force the focus, but that would be
anti-social. It's not a requirement for new windows to have
input focus, and some WMs let you decide how to handle them.
I would try with another Motif application - say, an old
copy Netscape 4 (not Mozilla) and do the same. If that has
the same problem, then it's in the their handling of the
Motif window hints, not nedit itself.
If it was a bug in nedit, then it's very strange that it
only happens with a certain version of Exceed, and no other
window managers that I know of.
You also might want to include output from nedit -V, perhaps
you are using a strange Motif.

Is it possible to post the exact quote from Hummingbird?
Better yet, please ask them to contact us at develop at

Ok, I doubt that Hummingbird wants to talk about this. Closed
