I simply want to report that I was able to get ndiswrapper working successfully on the following environment, albeit with a minor problem: -Acer Travelmate 803LCi (Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100) -kernel 2.6.4 -debian unstable The only real problem I encountered was that the order in which the iwconfig commands are issued seemed to be significant. Apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere. If I issue the commands in the order stated in the INSTALL document, wlan0 comes online but no traffic seems to be sent or received. If I change the order so that the essid gets set *before* the wep key, it all works like magic. I don't know if this is a bug, documentation error or something to do with the peculiarities of my hardware. Doesn't work: $ modprobe wlan0 $ iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed $ iwconfig wlan0 key open wepkey $ iwconfig wlan0 essid network-name $ ifconfig wlan0 up $ dhclient wlan0 Does work! $ modprobe wlan0 $ iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed $ iwconfig wlan0 essid network-name $ iwconfig wlan0 key open wepkey $ ifconfig wlan0 up $ dhclient wlan0 --Rob |
