Hi there, I use a Dlink DWL-G122 wireless USB adaptor for my home network on my desktop PC. What I found was that when the dongle was plugged into my high speed USB port (that are available on my motherboard), the dongle set-up was very unreliable. Not only would the "configuring network interfaces" at start-up simply go on and on and on (despite time-outs and what have you), it would also not configure the dongle!! I would have to unplug and plug in the dongle once or several times (like the probability of tossing a coin for every plug in) before it would get initialised by ndiswrapper and the wireless interface becomes enabled. The consistent message that I would see in my dmesg was usb 8-2: reset high speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address N This "N" would increment every time I unplugged and plugged in the dongle. To get around the problem, I have now plugged in the dongle on a slow speed USB port (on one of my PCI cards), and ndiswrapper works reliably with it. So I wonder if this is something to do with the high speed device, and is there a conflict between the hotplug scripts and ndiswrapper!! BTW, the hardware revision that I am using is B1 for the dongle, so I use ralink drivers. Any enhancements that you can make in ndiswrapper during the next release will be much appreciated and received with thanks. Cheers, N |
