hi, i'm writing here as a last resort to geting my card working properly, having tried the gentoo forums, google, 5 different drivers, 3 version of ndiswrapper and the mailing list archives. the card in question is a belkin F5D7000 (pci 802.11g) with (apparently) the broadcom 94306 chipset. for what it's worth, the motherboard is a custom sff shuttle for the SN41G2. this has the nforce2 chipset (with onboard lan). i'm using the gentoo version of kernel 2.6.7 and xfree 4.3.0. with the drivers that seem to work (driver3 link on the supported chipsets page), the card is detected ok, and iwlist works fine, detecting the ap ok. iwconfig sets all the config ok, but cannot change the essid (so i guess it cant register with the ap). however i can get it working, once i've logged on into X. calling iwconfig *from* an xterm results in no problems at all. if i then switch back to console, leaving X running it still doesn't work. so to recap, association with an ap only works if iwconfig is called from within X. i have tried this with every driver i can get hold of. most dont seem to work at all (despite a "hardware present" message from ndiswrapper -l). i've also tried it with ndiswrapper 0.8, 0.9 and cvs HEAD. thanks for any help you can offer me. gav |
