Just wondering if there's any chance that the following patch, or something like it, might be accepted. Is the "-D" option considered generic? I'm guessing there's probably a more acceptable way of doing this? Reason: If you do a 'make install' to a prefix that doesn't yet exist, the installer will bork out (under Linux anyway). The '-D' option tells the installer to create any directories leading up to the install location if the don't already exist.
