Dear all, I have a project for developing a system for insertion of virtual advertisements into real time video broadcasting which is used especially at sporting events. I made some search on the internet when I came to visit ARToolkit webpage. I would appreacite if someone could give me some guidlines on how to develop using ARToolkit or any other tool to build the desired system. We need however to develop the system using pattern recognition to superimposing the desired digital image on the stadium walls for example. Another application will be the "first down line which consists of a line parallel to the field yard lines - that appears to be on the field but is in fact imaginary. In fact, my project involves a comparison of tracking and recognition methods used by several systems in virtual advertisements. I have to work with neural networks and Support vector Machines and compare them between others. I have found some papers on the subject. But I'm sure that you can of GREAT help in developing such system maybe using ARToolkit. Could you please send me any suggested help. Thank you in advacnce, -Fadi Chakik HAPPY NEW YEAR 2006. Hi, =20 I have tried out the 3D Live renderer at = https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=3D102931&package_i= d=3D129050&release_id=3D266139. =20 When running Simple3DL.exe, the framerate is high when the marker is not = detected, but dives to 3-6 fps the second the marker is detected and the = 3DL file is rendered. =20 My laptop is a (brand new) Dell Precision M70 laptop with 2.13GHz Intel = Pentium Centrino CPU, 2GB RAM and NVIDIA Quadro FX Go 1400 with 256MB = RAM. The webcamera is a Creative Notebook WebCam.=20 =20 1. Shouldn't this be enough to run at higher framerates than 3-6 fps = with my type of computer? 2. Second, I am wondering about the resolution/quality of the 3DL = samples - how many cameras was used to capture these samples, and at = which resolution? (DragonFly cameras, right?) 3. Is it possible to get really high quality, so that I could render a = person in full-size standing next to me on the floor?=20 =09 I don't need realtime capturing (just recordings), but I need rendering = that is both high quality and high framerate (20-30 fps). The rendering = would be performed on e.g. a Dell Precision 670 workstation with Dual = Intel Xeon 3.0GHz HT Pentium 4, 2GB RAM (or more?) and NVIDIA Quadro FX = 4400 / 512MB RAM. hello dear friends. I am very interested in mixed reality, trying to do interesting things and introduce them to media art field of my country - Armenia. but now I am at the age of make a little presentation of my work here but there is a problem, that I would like to solve as fast as possible, because the presentation is in a few days. It is necesary for me to use instead of webcam, a Digital Sony Handycam. the model is DCR- HC30E or DCR-HC20E. the problem is that the MXRToolkit doesn't show anything when I try to open it with the camera connected to the computer via i-LINK cable. It begins to load my *.wrl files and *.jpg frames but then opens a window of MXRToolkit and doesn't show anything, except the gray color. But the camera with other programs such as Windows Movie Maker works properly, the image, seen by camera is being transfered to the display succesfully. So the think I need is the script of the C++ that affects the changes of camera, that define the tipe of camera that I use and have an effect that the toolkit recognise muy camera. please help me with this script, it is very urgent and I am trying to find it out by myself but it seems that there is no way for me to find the exact way to solve it in one day. i have been trying for a long time but the task prooved to be beyond me. or if the solution is in something else, please let me know, anyway, how to fix it up, I am very interested and hoping very much to recieve your support. I apeal to your understanding and quick help Sincerely, Karina --------------------------------- Correo Yahoo! Comprueba qué es nuevo, aquí http://correo.yahoo.es |

HI all, Is anyone out there feeling brave enough to try making a python wrapper for the MXR Toolkit? There is a tool called SWIG http://www.swig.org/ that supposedly makes this relatively easy. I think it would be great to be able to offer non C programmers a way of using mixed reality at a higher level of abstraction. This was done 2 years ago with the ARToolkit http://www.scripps.edu/mb/olson/pyartk/pyartk.html but it seems to only be available for linux at the moment. It looks pretty good though... Unfortunately I am not a programmer (yet) but I am learning python, and I think that it would help open the door to a lot of people who are still a bit scared by C and C++ as a first step into programming. I think that an enthusiatsic beginner could successfully adapt example applications in python to make their own projects more quickly and with less frustration than in C. I imagine this sitting somewhere between C-based toolkits and new Designer-oriented things like DART http://www.gvu.gatech.edu/dart/ and my own (slow-developing because first I have to learn to program) DsignAR http://www.mis.atr.co.jp/~rodney/designAR/index.htm In fact I hope to use a pythonized MXRToolkit to develop the latter. Remember the transcendent goal of every programmer is his or her own obselescence! Rod. After fixing my camera to laptop using firewire card = (IEEE 1394) and compiling the toolkit as intructed in the manual, i am = only able to view the grey window of MXR with tracking coordinates.
