For those of you who are interested in live tv support for myth, I have checked in some rather major changes. If you want to try it out, I added a new dongle.bin to the project download page at http://mvpmc.sourceforge.net/development/dongle.bin.mvpmc-20050522 The first thing to note, is that if you continue to use the -b option to point mvpmc at your NFS mounted ring buffer directory, then it will continue to play live tv via NFS. If you do not use the -b option, then you will be transferring the live tv recording via the myth protocol. Also, when you select "Live TV", you will now see a menu consisting of all the currently available shows, and mvpmc will start playing live tv on whatever channel your tuner is set to. Selecting another show from the list will change channels, and using the "full" or "prev channel" buttons on the remote will put the video in fullscreen mode. The code is far from perfect, but I'm curious to see how well it works for people. Current shortcomings are: - seek is not supported with the myth protocol - the menu is not properly sorted - no channel names or program descriptions are available in the menu - the progress bar is there, but rather useless - changing channels when using NFS is still very slow Also, I have a few questions for those of you with more complicated myth setups than I have: - How does this work with multiple tuners in a backend? - How does this work with multiple backends? And for those of you with myth internals knowledge: - How do I stop and restart live tv without releasing the tuner? - Can I get a list of current shows without allocating a recorder? Thanks. Jon |
