hi Alex,
I updated my setup this morning with pacman -SYu which also updated msys2 files. After that AVG detected an identity threat with perl. when I tried to remove that it deleted my whole mingw32 set of files. I tried to reinstall, and the installer came up with same error. I downloaded the new installer and it is giving same problem.

I can do nothing with it. You need disable antivirus for MSYS folders

    Win8+?
Try update msys2-runtime to latest, close MSYS2, remove /etc/{group,passed,nssswitch.conf} and start MSYS2 again

      Yes, Windows8.

I deleted the files as asked and restarted msys2. It came up with msgs
regarding 'first install' - first time I am seeing them.

      Now the error doesn't come.

      Thanks!
