This was the basis of my question about 3 weeks ago.
I was hoping to combine the auth_ldap & auth_db methods to achieve this,
but my day job isn't giving me the time just yet...

Why not just use one or the other?
(Un)fortunately the users who will be doing the bookings are not geeks,
and using the same login name/password as they do for other 
access/mail/etc
makes sense.
