Done Building dependency tree... Done The following extra packages will be installed: libmozjs-dev libnspr4-dev libnss3-dev The following packages will be REMOVED: libnspr-dev libnspr4 mozilla-browser The following NEW packages will be installed: libmozjs-dev libnspr4-dev libnss3-dev libxul-dev xulrunner xulrunner-gnome-support 0 upgraded, 6 newly installed, 3 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Need to get 3337kB/3542kB of archives. After unpacking 25.7MB of additional disk space will be used. Do you want to continue [Y/n]? Then, apt-cache show mozilla-browser: Description: Transition package for Iceape Navigator and Composer Package to ease upgrading from mozilla packages to the new iceape package. . This package can be purged at anytime once the iceape-browser package has been installed. What about the two libnspr packages? Don't I need them? > Did you remember to run whatoptions.sh prior to running configure (The > new version of whatoptions.sh is able to handle iceweasel)? Nope. Sorry. Unless it is somewhere else when I used make install, but it doesn't appear to be there anywhere with locate whatoptions.sh. It seems to work, but I can't seem to proper play streaming QuickTime videos like http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/fantasticfourriseofthesilversurfer/small.html ... I see it buffer a bit, say "Click here to begin view" graphic, I clicked on picture, I see "Getting playlist...", playing <URL>.mov for a second (no trailer), buffers more, and repeats. I let it reach 100%, and then try again but it never plays and always say the previous things beside buffering part. I can save the .MOV to my local HDD and play from there without any problems. No, you don't have proper codec support in mplayer... make sure you have h264 support as well as all the optional codecs... Building mplayer with all the proper codecs is tricky. It will take you several tries to get it right. When you run configure for mplayer it will tell you what options / codecs it has. Try and get most of them working. I probably need todownload newer codecs since I haven't downloaded and installed for over a year. :) Weird that I can play fine locally, but not streaming. I downloaded http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/all-20061022.tar.bz2 and put all codecs into /usr/local/lib/codecs/. I compiled partially with ./configure --enable-gui (results -- http://pastebin.ca/314212 and I don't see h264 found). Did I get the wrong codec pack? -- "The shadows now so long do grow,... Did > anyone reply or did I miss it? Phillip, Well we are not talking about the mozilla cache. I was was talking about the cache setting in mplayerplug-in. Which you can set in the .conf file or using the right click->Configure menu when viewing a video. Check out the config page on the website, there are lots of options you can alter. For Apple Hi Def trailers,I recommend setting the mplayerplug-in cache between 1MB and 4MB depending on the quality of the trailer you are watching and your internet connection. Again, the slower your connection, the higher your cache should be.
