OK some more progress to report. I finally got into CVS today and uninstalled and reinstalled everything as before. Now with the following Mplayer configure options enabled I can heard sound on all of the Apple HD content: ./configure --enable-gui --enable-menu --disable-rtc --disable-runtime-cpudetection --enable-largefiles --enable-live --with-livelibdir=/usr/lib/live --enable-win32 --enable-external-faad (Mplayer always bitched about not being able to talk to my rtc on my AMD 64 bit system (running in 32Bit mode) - so I chose to disable it). The problem now is that Firefox is still crashing upon exiting from a movie. I would very much like to send you the debugging info you asked for - as it would be great if you found something that enhanced the stability of the project for everyone. But the problem is that none of the debugging facilities you asked for exist on my system. For example. I ran: firefox -g and at gdb I typed, run. This was the output I got: GNU gdb 6.3-debian Copyright 2004 Free Software Foundation, Inc. GDB is free software, covered by the GNU General Public License, and you are welcome to change it and/or distribute copies of it under certain conditions. Type "show copying" to see the conditions. There is absolutely no warranty for GDB. Type "show warranty" for details. This GDB was configured as "i386-linux"...(no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1". (gdb) run Starting program: /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/firefox-bin -a firefox (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled] [New Thread -1221277472 (LWP 15898)] (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) (no debugging symbols found) So clearly it isn't set up for debugging. If you would like to suggest how I can do this I will be happy to do so. Also, you said that I should edit /user/bin/firefox. However none of the lines you suggested replacing exist in thar executable. (Please see attached). Again if you want to suggest a possible way forward so that I can get you the debugging info you need I will be happy to do all I can to assist. Best regards, GJ |
