Sorry, just realized that there is a nasty installation issue. If you compile the plugin from the tar file, and do a make sysintall, it will go (on my system) to /usr/lib/mozilla-1.6/plugins. But, other plugins usually go into /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. This can create some nasty effects: (1) I had two versions of the plugin showing in the "About Plugins" tab, and only the first one was active. (2) after I removed ~/.mozilla/pluginreg.dat, I had only one plugin version, but everything stopped working. This was because /usr/lib/mozilla/ plugins have priority, and I had mozplugger installed (since I need it for e.g. openoffice), and it was taking over all the media types.
