Or better, drag both subtitles and movie together to the playlist. You can check if the movie has assigned subtitles by opening Info panel about that playlist item. There is even possibility to assign it from standard open dialog box thru the Info box. Also check if you have selected a font in the preferences otherwise you won't see any subtitles even if you have assigned them to the movie.
