The '/archives' directory is created on all Mondo CD's but until recently it wasn't created on _Mindi_ CD's. Oops. Well, now Mindi creates it as well. Mondo tries to mount each device, one by one. If it succeeds then it looks for '/archives' on the CD. >> mount: Mounting /dev/fd0 on /mnt/floppy failed: no such device or >> address I'll add "2> /dev/null" to the relevant 'mount' command. Mondo (well, technically, Mindi) is trying to fall back to floppies, can't find one, says, "Oops," and asks you what to do. Something like that. 1. Can I find a CD? 2. Oh dear. Well, I'll look for a floppy. 3. No floppy? Eek! Well, Mr/Ms User, you had better do something or I won't be able to boot. 4. Ooh, you gave me a floppy. Yummy. (And another..etc..) 5. OK, now maybe I can find the CD. 6. Woohoo! I've found the CD. -Hugo ------obligatory signature------ http://www.microwerks.net/~hugo -----end of obligatory sig.----- --- dk...@ke... wrote: >> --- Stewart Charnell <st...@ch...> wrote: >> >I still get the two lines 'Unable to identify CD-ROM format' in >> >the bootup messages, is that because there is no data in the >> >archive directory on the CD-ROM (as someone else suggested)? >> >> Mondo tries to mount hda, hdb, hdc, hdd, sda, sdb, ..., scd0, scd1, ..., cd1, >cd2, ..., >rcd0, rcd1, ... until it finds a valid CD-ROM drive with a Mondo CD in it. >> > >How does Mondo recognize that a drive has a "Mondo CD in it"? > >An earlier writer found that Mondo was looking for an /archive directory in >order to recognize the disk as a Mondo disk.
