Please comment on whether this scenario will work. Or, alternatively, what might work better. RHEL WS 3.0 mindi-0.87-1.i386.rpm mondo-1.67-rhe30.i386.rpm ( the only RHEL one I could find ) Old Hardware is an 80 gig IDE drive, dual CPU 800 MHZ. New Hardware is a Xeon 2.8 ( hyperthreaded ) Hardware RAID 1 - 2 drives ( 36 GIG drives ) So, the partition table will be slightly different ( a /tmp / swap and /boot ) but the data is less than 36 gig (only 12 actually ) So, will this work? Can I recover from the iso's onto the new hardware? I understand there is a method to recover onto different hardware ( different sizes and fstab entires ) and the kernel should work as well from the old to new hardware I think. I would certainly welcome any feedback, comments, or suggestions. Better methods welcome.
