Dear mpjeg hackers! I've got an interesting problem: data recovery. I hope that you can answer me some questions regarding that file format. Story: We recorded the most cool salsa dancing video ever and deleted it by accident (right at the camera). I then tried recovery by photorec --cool program, found everything except what I was looking for. So I hacked in the bytes... 'RIFF' appeared at every videos start. I've check everything starting with that 4 bytes, but haven't found the video. So I guess the camera wrote after deletion above those video header bytes. :-/ The video header is gone (although I've other vids by the same camera). Is there anything that I should't have lost in the headers? I've already tried extracting a single frame (which are all marked by ffd8ffe00) but didn't succeed--eog tells 'huffman table missing'. I've had a look at Apples Spec (qtff.pdf) but haven't even found out thereby wheter it's an MJPG-A or -B one. Do you have any hint or reference how to convert a MJPG-frame to a (viewable) JPG image? (--without having video headers ^^) Greetings Claudio |
