The approach seems to be to provide mapping of low level arduino interfaces to objects on the host (or connected) computer. If that is the case, this is similar to the design of Weeder board approach. In this model the interface board is essentially a dumb device and all logic is on the host computer. I have a Weeder board I am using it to interface to water sensors. I found this approach frustrating for a couple reasons: coding the debounce logic in mh would not work for me the way I wanted. This really feels like something that should be done on the hardware interface (if doing it in software). Also, I wanted the autonomy offered by approach where logic was self-contained on the hardware interface. With this the computer with mh could go down and I would still get alerts. My current thinking is to only send higher level events from the Arduino and use serial items for additional mh actions. |
