Hi Tim, Quoting Tim Sailer (7/25/07 10:40 PM): > I'm trying to follow the threads on xAP. I enabled xAP_send.pl, and MH is > setting up the xAP hub and listening. I tool the xAP-festival.pl script, > and modified it to use the Cepstral swift binary instead of festival. I > started up the script, and I see in the MH log the heartbeat. However, MH > never sends out any info that is shown in the debug. You mean when you set debug=xap--right? If so, that's because mh's hub is "smart" enough to echo what it sends right back to itself. The possible down-side is an absence of debug info that reflect what is sent out. > I don't have a > winders box running at the moment, so I can't fire up one of the fancy > viewers. How 'bout ethereal? If so, feel free to send me a trace when filtering on udp port 3639. > Does anyone have a clue they can lob in my direction? Can I assume that you're tracking the latest from svn? If I set debug=xap in my mh.ini and then enter "test" into the "Speak Text" function via the web interface, I see the following in the console output: db1 xap check: p=xAP s=mhouse.mh.main.core c=tts.speak t= d=xap-header { v=12 hop=1 uid=FFE90000 source=mhouse.mh.main.core class=tts.speak } tts.speak { voice=NeoSpeech Paul volume=70 say=test } Now, I happen to be running an external (to mh) xAP hub; so, the above comment about "echoing" doesn't apply (to me) and I do see the "reflected" messages. However, if you can get a trace, then you should see something similar within the network trace. Next.... are you running xAP-festival.pl on the same system as mh? And, can I assume that the mh system is does not have multiple NICs or similar network complexities (e.g., VLANs)? If xAP-festival.pl is running on the same system (as the running mh hub), then confirm that $FORCE_LOCAL_HUB = 1; otherwise, set it to 0. Also, for now, don't use "rooms" (you'll have to use a separate/different common code if you want to associate the running xAP-festival client as a specific room--but, more on this later). So, invoke xAP-festival.pl *after* mh is running like so: ./xAP-festival.pl --debug You should then see something about "A room was not specified using ..." on the console. If you don't, then the debug flag is not working (sorry to be vague here, but I don't use xAP-festival). You should then see debug info whenever mh speaks. Feel free to either post whatever you find to the list or send to me off-list. Gregg |
