OK, just to follow up I got this working tonight. Turns out that the pushbutton that controls the lights had gotten jammed.stuck when I put the "console" on and that was preventing any of the wired controls from working. Once I realized that and freed it up, shorting the terminals indeed causes the door to open or close so I was able to go back to my universal-module solution. The console you describe sounds *exactly* like mine, and it's hard to believe that Genie has invested in multiple interfaces to the console. How long did you short the wires for? Maybe you didn't short for long enough. Try a solid short for 1 second or so. Also make sure your vacation switch is not set on the console (e.g. the normal button should work). David Satterfield |
