Your Roomba experience will vary based on the area you are trying to clean. I use my Roomba on a wood floor & it works great but I did a bunch of reading beforehand on the Roomba forums before purchasing. The bottom line seems to be that the Roomba works good on open areas with consistent surfaces without too much nap and the fewer surface transitions the better.
