how did you define your x10 object you want to control? If you used the .mht file, you might have defined an interface to use = and you don't have to do this. the same thing goes if you defined the object using new = X10_<Item|Appliance> directly in your code. ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Zen Tormey=20 To: mis...@li...=20 Sent: Wednesday, May 11, 2005 3:07 PM Subject: [mh] Greetings, and Issues with the CM11A --- Apologies if you get this twice, was having email issues over the = weekend, and it didn't seem like this one made it to the list, so I'm = trying to resend from a different address. --- Hey guys, first post to the list, although I will admit to lurking for = quite awhile. I've been following Misterhouse for a couple years, and finally had = the chance to get going with it after my recent move in March. I want to say that what you guys are doing is amazing. The code, = documentation, and this list have all been incredibly helpful to me in = getting this stuff going. So far I've gotten everything I've played with working no problem = (with one exception, see below). It's great how ready to run out of the = box MisterHouse is. You guys deserve a medal or something :) Anyways, the one issue I've had is with my CM11A (big surprise, = judging from the number of issues on this list about it, eh?) The problem I'm having in a nutshell is this: MH can see x10 stuff = happening, but can't seem to do any x10'ing (that a verb? is now, I = suppose) itself. More detail: I set the device in mh.private.ini: ... cm11_port=3DCOM1 ... MH detects the device and sets up an object ... - creating cm11 object on port COM1 ... ..But when I try to toggle a light (for example): ... X10: interface=3Dcm11a isfunc=3D0 save_unit=3DXA8 data=3DXA8 Error, X10 interface not found: interface=3Dcm11a, data=3DXA8 X10: interface=3Dcm11a isfunc=3D1 save_unit=3DXA8 data=3DXAK Error, X10 interface not found: interface=3Dcm11a, data=3DXAK ... The CM11A works fine with the activehome software. MisterHouse reads any incoming X10 commands from the CM11A just fine = (ie: using an RF remote, or thinline switch, maxicontroller, etc) and = updates the state of an item correctly, so I know it's reading and = accessing the serial port just fine. a link to the test_x10 output is pasted to the end of this email = (didn't want to spam the list with it, as it's long). For the record, I have a reasonable amount of perl experience. I'm = comfortable mucking around with source. I am running MH on a WinXP system (although I had the same problem on = a different box running Windows Server 2003 - Tried both to make sure it = wasn't a serial port issue). I've narrowed my problem down to three possibilities; 1) My CM11A is bad (I hope not, it's less than 2 months old) 2) I have a configuration or source problem somewhere that I'm missing ..or 3) I have absolutely no idea what the heck I'm doing and should = probably sell my computer and go work on a farm instead. :) Any ideas, please let me know (on the list or off). I've done quite a = bit of searching this list and google. I found one other person who = described a similar problem, but a solution was never posted to the list = (that I was able to find, anyways). If any more information is needed, just ask, I'm generally pretty = quick with the replies during work hours. Thanks again for all the help so far (the comments in the code, = documentation, and this list have gotten me everything else I wanted so = far set up.. including multiple Audrey's serving music and CID info = around the house, which is just fun). Any help anyone could offer to = help me out with this (even if it's just a link I missed to an old = message my searching hasn't turned up) would be very appreciated. -Zen Tormey [Here is the output of 'test_x10 CM11A com1 A 1 > debugme.txt'] http://fd.bananafunk.com/mh/debugme.txt |
