Hi, Should be a voicemodem which understand the AT#XX set. You can test it by opening a terminal to the modem (minicom for Linux) and enter AT#CLS=8 If the modem response with "OK" then problaly the modem can be used as a answermachine. A another issue is which soundformat to use. For example the Rockwell based modems make use of 4 bit PCM RMD format. Other modems can have other formats. There are utilities around (pvftools) to do conversion to any format you want. For more info you can refer to the MGETTY/VGETTY package in which you can find lots of usefull stuff. In particular, i live in Canada (which should be compatible with the us) and have an old USR sportster and a USR courier laying around. Would I be able to use those for the answering system? If not, any good recommendations from the list? thanks, Jack ------------------------------------------------- Jack De Winter - Wildbear Consulting, Inc. http://www.wildbear.on.ca/homepages/jack/ ________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from this list, go to: http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=1365 |
