I run ROCK linux with an 2.4.3 kernel. This is what I get so far: ---------- Serial driver version 5.05 (2000-12-13) with MANY_PORTS MULTIPORT SHARE_IRQ SERI AL_PCI ISAPNP enabled ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A ttyS01 at 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A ttyS02 at 0x03e8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A ttyS03 at 0x02e8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A ----------- Two of them are my onboard serials. Looking at www.byterunner.com the vscardcfg stuff is for PCI cards only. Some people say I have to leave the jumpers (and there ar alot of them on this card) on UNIX mode, others say in STANDARD mode. In FreeBSD it works with the standard serial drivers in multiport config mode. (shared irq) I switched to Linux for its better driver support, and viavoice, but until now I have some cards not functioning which worked in fbsd. (miroPCTV card, Byterunner multiserial) I'll try again soon. Thanks, Ron. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paulsen, Brian" <BPa...@le...> To: <mis...@li...> Sent: Tuesday, June 05, 2001 4:07 PM Subject: RE: [misterhouse-users] Byterunner serial and Linux > I just upgraded to redhat 7.1 which has the 2.4.x version of the linux > kernel. > > What I have found out: > > 1) The kernel automatically recognizes the new serial ports now. > 2) You don't need to run vscardcfg anymore > 3) You should run 'dmesg' to see where the ports are assigned.
