Right, my is not needed on object definitions. mh will process "$x = new object_type" records special (e.g. moves them out of the loop code, creates web page entries for them). But we do also allow for "my $x = new object_type" so you can do on-the-fly object creation. I tried the testcase I posted testcase with a 'my' and it worked fine also, so it must be something else.
