I know this has been discussed before, however, I have been unable to find any registry key on Win 2K that detects a dialup connection. I want to use MH to periodically log onto the net and FTP several files to a web server. I have tried setting the net_connect parm to "persistent", but then MH refuses to dial because "you are already connected". If the parm is left as "dialup" it dials, but refuses to perform most internet related functions. I could modify some of the core MH files to fix this, but that would make upgrades [more] difficult. If I could just get DSL or a Cable modem here, I wouldn't be sending this..... Anyways, I would like to find an alternate way to detect a connection and the most obvious is a simple ping to the website or mail server. It looks like there are remnants of an attempt at this in the /bin directory (ping_to_file.bat), but it appears to have been an abandoned idea. Before I spend too much effort on this, does anyone remember if there was a problem with this approach. Although I have been hacking at MH for a while now, I still consider myself a "Perl Novice". Any advice is appreciated, ~Doug |
