Hello all, I have skipped 2.8, but because of the ending support for the 2.7 I plan to update from 2.7 to 2.9 on a Vista 32 platform with all patches. There is the idea, not to do an automated installation and than looking where which file was placed, but to do it step by step in one installation place X:\TeX\... I checked some old installation notes (for a 2.6 installation) with the latest documentation and think, the following should be a working way to install 2.9 and to migrate from 2.7 to 2.9: 1. Basic installation (with temporary admin privileges for the current user) basic-miktex-2.9.3927.exe /C:"setupwiz --setup-path=""#e""" with setupwiz.opt: --common-config=X:\TeX\localtexmf29 --common-data=X:\TeX\localtexmf29 --install-root=X:\TeX\MiKTeX29 --program-folder=MiKTeX29 --shared --user-config=X:\TeX\localtexmf29 --user-data=X:\TeX\localtexmf29 2. To update the installation out of the "old" 2.7 via: mpm --admin --verbose --repository="Y:\TeX\MiKTeX27" --import-all 3. To move the folder (with some commercial fonts) from the current installation and than to add the path in the roots-section X:\TeX\local-fonts 4. Resetting the privileges to standard user. 5. To update packages (whenever necessary) from a local repository which is synchronised with a public MikTeX repository. 6. De-Installing MikTeX 2.7 Are there any comments to that installation approach (wrong config setting or something else) or have I missed something? Thanks in advance. Ralf |
