What I am seeking is a return to my "favorite editor" when tex compilation encounters an error. The MikTeX 2.9 manual miktex.pdf says (p.70): The 'e' response to TEX's error prompt causes the default editor to start up at the current line of the current file. The configuration value {\it Editor} can be used to change the editor used. It may contain a string with %f indicating where the file name goes and %l indicating where the decimal line number (if any) goes. But I don't know where the "configuration value {\it Editor}" is stored --- or how I can change it. Best regards, Jeff E. Lewis Prof. Jeff E.
