Miktex-users group I enclose below part of a reply received in answer to a question I posed. I feel insulted by the snide or sneering remarks made in that reply, and I think you should point this out to these people. As a matter of fact, they seem not to be very conversant with the TexnicCentre setup if they've never heard of the command "build". And working within the TexnicCentre, what program other than Latex could one be using? However, someone asked for the .log file created at the time, and I have attached that here since I still have the problem. Thank you. Keith Hannaby. Part of previous reply. I'm working within MikTek 2.7 using the AMSBOOK document class and, after working for awhile, one does a current file "build" - I think it means "compile" (from a drop-down menu) to create a .dvi file (or a pdf file as of choice) and a number of other files like .aux, .log, etc. No .dvi file is created and I get the message "Underfull \hbox (badness 10000)" at the bottom of the screen. At that point, the program will not allow me to save my work giving the message: "Cannot create a file when that file already exists." Previously, I have had no trouble using "build" which you are advised to use twice. [I happen to use "build" followed by "build and view" in order to see the dvi contents.] / Once the Underfill message appears, the menus become inoperative. So I can't see how to remedy the situation. / Regards Keith ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Sun, 13 Apr 2008 16:54:27 +0100 From: Jos? What are you talking about? Are you using some LaTeX-compliant text editor, such as Winedt? > to create a .dvi file (or > a pdf file as of choice) and a number of other files like .aux, .log, > etc. > > No .dvi file is created and I get the message "Underfull \hbox > (badness 10000)" at the bottom of the screen. > > At that point, the program Which program? > will not allow me to save my work giving the message: "Cannot create a > file when that file already exists." > > Previously, I have had no trouble using "build" which you are advised > to use twice. > [I happen to use "build" followed by "build and view" in order to see > the dvi contents.] / Once the Underfill message appears, the menus > become inoperative. > So I can't see how to remedy the situation. At lest post your your .log file. That might help. Best regards, Jose Carlos Santos |
