[cut] This is a dependcy bug/side-effect of using the automatic installer. When I run mptopdf I get asked to install metatex. The metatex package contains another mptopdf.tex which covers the correct one being part of ConTeXt. The solution is to uninstall metatex and then select don't install when you run mptopdf the first time. I'll report the bug.
