[MiKTeX] problem after updating

Dear ALL:

after updating my WinEdt/MikTex installation yesterday night, things have
gone awry. The files (from my dissertation) no longer compile.

The PDFTeXify procedure crashes with this message:

Runaway argument?
! Paragraph ended before \@ctblframe was complete.
(to be read again).

The crash occurs while compiling a table prepared with ctable.

I tried to install a fresh installation of MikTex, but to no avail.

The same .tex files from my dissertation run just fine on my laptop, where
I haven't done any updates.

Help would be truly appreciated,
