99% of the Mac users would have no clue how to build GPhoto themselves.

The current nightly Mac build (and hopefully all future ones as well) contains GPhoto for Intel Mac (both 32 and 64 bits) but not PowerPC (that will have to wait until GPhoto solves some cross-compilation issues).
