I've been thinking lately of a "forget things" functions. The brain
gets stuffed with odd words (mispellings and such) and it would be
nice to clean it then.

The brain file format is not documented but from the source it is not
hard to understand : you dump  the two trees (forward and backward)
and the dictionnary. You can look at "save_model" and "save_tree",
each tree is saved depth first.

And still be able to generate replies ? For the moment, no. IMO
megahal needs more utility functions, feel free to send a patch !
