As I said, this patch does not affect the binding of M-;
It does, however, set the indent function to a reasonable
value.

M-; is bound to maxima-insert-short-comment with the standard maxima-mode keybindings, so this patch won't do what you want.
Perhaps you can explain what you want (maybe changing the default keybindings?)
