Easy to learn, easy to use, reliable.

Very good
Not simple, but very... fast, userful, stable and FREE!!! I love it! =)
just use this
Great CAS - don't be put off by the user interface. Under the hood is some good maths....
maxima is fantastic! and scilab too!
good soft. simple and smart
many many many thanks!
Maxima is great for a free computer algebra system. It's not as good as Mathematica or Maple, but then again, it's free. It's quite useful as an occasional scratchpad.
Maxima is very stable and reliable but the documentation could be better ...
used to be Mathematica fan for years -- last year or two i'am using maxima; it's powerfull program, usefull, handy ... tnx to all developers ;) //Aleš Iršič
I used to use Macsyma back in college. It's SO nice to see it hasn't dissappeared!
Excellent work! Maxima is very useful for school work here in Denmark; they allow the use of all tools. I use it to check my children's homework - it is a long time since I did maths myself.
I find this an excellent system, and actually prefer it to Maple.
excellent program for anyone serious about mathematics
