Don't know if this is apllicable to you, but we have experienced problems using the ethernet port on WRAP boxes for some time; I haven't noticed the specific pattern you're describing but every WRAP box we've ever deployed has had a tendency to hang on heavy sustained ethernet traffic, usually once every few days. The radio-link stuff continues to work fine, just the passage of traffic through the ethernet port is affected. We added a ping-bot watchdog which reboots as a patch. The problem is reduced (but not completely eliminated) by hard-coding the eth0 ports to 10baseT-HD or FD. You could give that a try and see if it affects your situation.
