Hi all, I wanted to try out OpenHal and downloaded it using the command: svn checkout http://svn.madwifi.org/branches/madwifi-old-openhal madwifi I compiled/installed it using "make; make install". I was able to load the module ath_pci using "modprobe ath_pci". However, I could not see any wifi device when I executed the command "iwconfig". It appears that there is an ath interface but no wifi interfaces. The ath interface is readily configured in "managed mode". For my work, I am interested in using the wireless NIC in "adhoc mode". My questions are: 1. Is it possible to work with the wifi interfaces while using OpenHAL? 2. If not, is it possible to configure the wireless NICs to operate in adhoc mode? Any help is highly appreciated! Thanks, Ron PS. I am using an IBM thinkpad laptop and a Linux kernel 2.6.18. I got the following kernel message from dmesg: ath_hal: OpenHAL loaded (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5110/1/2) wlan: 0.8.6.0 (EXPERIMENTAL) ath_rate_sample: 1.2 ath_pci: 0.9.5.0-BSD (EXPERIMENTAL) PCI: Enabling device 0000:02:02.0 (0110 -> 0112) PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 0000:02:02.0 PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 0000:00:1d.2 PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 0000:00:1f.1 ath_hal: Atheros HW found ath_hal: MAC version: 5213 ath_hal: PHY version: 5112a ath_hal: EEPROM version: 4.8 Build date: Aug 27 2007 Debugging version (IEEE80211) ath0: 11a rates: 6Mbps 9Mbps 12Mbps 18Mbps 24Mbps 36Mbps 48Mbps 54Mbps ath0: H/W encryption support: WEP ath0: mac 5.9 phy 4.3 radio 3.6 ath0: Use hw queue 1 for WME_AC_BE traffic ath0: Use hw queue 0 for WME_AC_BK traffic ath0: Use hw queue 2 for WME_AC_VI traffic ath0: Use hw queue 3 for WME_AC_VO traffic ath0: Use hw queue 6 for CAB traffic ath0: Use hw queue 7 for beacons Debugging version (ATH) ath0: AR5212: mem=0xc0210000, irq=11 |
