Heh, it was around and kicking half a year ago -- someone from opensuse had even mailed me regarding specs for ALT Linux or the likes. Discussed on what's left after catching up with current bzr (that was recently done) to submit our scripts and patches upstream; maybe that would even happen next week. > > hope that helps get folks started. +1 (still... maybe they're not after production, which LTSP clearly is all about? There wouldn't be too much kernel testing or whatever hobby Fedora the project has, I'm afraid; hopefully openSUSE is more serious in providing a distro that's not only cutting edge but actually works) > With a very limited development knowledge I have been trying to > push LTSP5 for SUSE for quite some time, this is a good > opportunity for Fedora and SUSE communities to work together. > The status of our work on SUSE can be found here: > http://developer.novell.com/wiki/index.php/KIWI-LTSP We at ALT just have it working, with some parts of LTSP5 which are currently in "new half-baked, old dropped on the floor" state ...dropped on the floor and rolled back to 4.2 implementation, like ldm-only stuff. (I'm very thankful to ogra for the patience he gave me during discussions of connected topics on #ltsp, and it'd be happy day when we're able to finally drop XDMCP on the floor altogether) The implementation relies on higher-level tools available in our distro (spt; think KIWI in openSUSE) which handle the chroot builds for us, but there's also intention to port the plugin down to bare apt-get. There are no plans to dumb it down ever further (e.g. bare rpm); and yum sample is what the thread started with. Hope your integration goes well and LTSP5-carrier distro array explodes seeing that :) -- ---- WBR, Michael Shigorin <mi...@al...> ------ Linux.Kiev http://www.linux.kiev.ua/ |
