I was working on a clean Ubuntu 10.4 LTSP install today and noticed that same thing with the root of the tftp server. I soft linked the /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp directory to /srv/tftp/ltsp and built a new client image. I get to the beginning of the Ubuntu splash page but I don't get any movement on the progress bar, then it dumps me into an initramfs prompt. Is there any logging going on during this process? The only package I installed was ltsp-server-standalone (as specified in some documentation on the Ubuntu help wiki) so I assume that that's a meta-package that installs the tftpd daemon and the left hand didn't tell the right hand that the root of the TFTP server was being moved.
