Fwiw, I was speaking with Andrew Morton today about LTP and the desire I had to get more of LTP active in STP, and his comment was that from his standpoint, he'd like to see a way to run it quicker, so a "--fast" option would likely make him happy. He commented that he'd like to see the LTP results in around 10 min or less. For me, I'd want to always use the "--complete" option. :-) > I think the component tests might help get more of the subsystem > developers involved because they can limit their scope, limit their > runs, and focus on the best tests for their specific subsystem. > The roll-ups are great for more complete regression testing. *Nod* This was another thing andrew mentioned - that he'd like to see e.g. thread tests, so support the work going on in that area. I mentioned Sebastien's work on the thread portion of the Open POSIX Test Suite. He thought that sounded interesting although mentioned that there's probably other threading things in Linux worth testing beyond what's in POSIX, so from that standpoint, being able to run LTP with subsystem oriented flags (e.g., --thread) could be useful. Like you said, that'd let the devs restrict the testing to the thing they're working on, and get faster turnaround on their results. Bryce |
