Linus has included it now into 2.5.64.

It still uses the old hash table sizes and hash functions,
but that hash tables are only half as big now (but with the
same number of buckets)

It also has some other improvements like more explicit 
prefetching and a hopefully more cache friendly
struct dentry layout.

Some more research in the hash may still be able to speed this up
in case someone is interested. I can offer patches to dump
the hash table statistics.
