New of this project's demise...

... were not very exaggerated. However, I now find myself -- finally -- with a stable life that has actual, genuine *available* time, and will dust this project off.

LoW returns after two-year coma!

Surprise!

LoW development has resumed. CVS now contains a much cleaner rendering engine with bumpmapping and shadows, and much better core map handling and physics systems. Other parts of the game are being reintegrated.

Expect a release within the month, as well as more detailed news soon!

Labyrinth of Worlds tech demo release 0.4

Labyrinth of Worlds, a rewrite of 1992's PC game Ultima Underworld II, has been
updated with many new features and improvements.

Version 0.4 provides a ream of new gameplay features, including wearable items,
improved user interface, performance improvements, more complete conversation
support (including being given items), and working keys and locks, and a gaggle
of bug fixes and minor improvements too numerous to list.... read more

Labyrinth of Worlds tech demo release 0.3

Labyrinth of Worlds, a rewrite of 1992's PC game Ultima Underworld II, has been updated with many new features and improvements.

Version 0.3 sports conversations with NPCs, the oft requested mouselook mode for movement, and a nifty configuration file that simplifies use greatly. At this point, the game has become recongizable as such.

The corresponding source release now uses autoconf, making building possible without having to struggle with an intricate Makefile and simplifying portability a great deal.... read more

Labyrinth of Worlds tech demo release 0.2

Labyrinth of Worlds, a rewrite of 1992's PC game Ultima Underworld II, has been updated with a great deal of additionnal functionality and is getting closer to begin a playable game than ever.

This version allows the player to navigate the entire game universe, as well as manipulate objects and containers along with his character's inventory. The physics system is also in place, allowing such antics as bouncing objects off monsters to push them off cliffs.... read more

First Labyrinth of Worlds open source release

Labyrinth of Worlds, a rewrite of the 1990's PC game Ultima Underworld II, has gone open source earlier than originally planned and has moved to its new home on Sourceforge.

Binaries for the 0.1 Tech Demo version are already avaliable, and the full CVS tree will follow as soon as it is imported. This version allows testing of the graphical and game engine, and already allows to navigate and inspect the entire game universe.... read more
